You God damn complainer.  You dirty phony saint and martyr, I said to myself.

– Ernest Hemingway in his posthumously published memoir, A Moveable Feast, a book describing his days as a young, struggling writer living in Paris.  He makes these remarks to himself after catching himself complaining to Sylvia Beach about the hardships of being a writer of fiction.
